Why is web design important to my course of study?

I feel that web design is very important because it goes together with graphic design.  Everything is moving towards the web and if a company is not on the web they are more than likely not going to be very successful.  Learning how to design a website will help me to become a more marketable candidate for employment because many companies are looking for a graphic designer who knows web.  Right now there are companies who have to hire two seperate people to create printed work and someone to create websites, but if I know both that makes it better for the company that is hiring.  All in all I think that this will be an exciting class and I look forward to learning more about how to use Dreamweaver and become more web design savy.
